Early Intervention in Psychosis: A Strategic Roadmap for Massachusetts
November 5, 2020, 9am-4:30pm EST
About the Meeting
The Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) is in the process of developing a Strategic Plan for Early Psychosis. This plan will help to identify priorities for funding and program development in MA. This conference, hosted by the DMH and the LEAP Center, is a time to discuss and develop these priorities. We will explore the current local, national, and international landscapes of early intervention, and take stock of past successes & failures to develop a roadmap for the future of psychosis care in MA.
What is a strategic plan?
The MA Strategic Plan for Early Psychosis is a developing document that will guide future state-funded interventions in psychosis. The strategic plan provides an evidence-based rationale for investing in early psychosis treatment, and outlines an enumerated set of priorities for the next 10+ years of funding allocation and program development. While the DMH has identified a preliminary set of priorities, a key step in strategic planning is to hear from other critical stakeholders around the state — people like clients, family members, clinicians, social workers, and others directly involved in this system. Our goal this November is to open this planning process to the broader early psychosis community in MA.
How will the virtual conference work?
All panels and talks for this conference will be moderated over Zoom. Links will be made available to registered attendees as we approach November 5th. Our goal is to make this meeting as interactive as possible. We want to collaborate with you to build and refine our state-wide strategic plan, and create opportunities for our local early psychosis community to connect and learn from each other. Different panels will make use of interactive features such as breakout rooms to make sure that your voice is heard. For those who cannot attend “in person”, a text-based discussion board will be included on this site, and recordings of all talks will be made available for a month following the meeting date.
As we build our strategic plan, we want to center the voices of those with lived experience navigating Massachusetts’s mental health system. You will notice that there are a number of screen breaks built into the schedule below. During these times, we will have a space on this site dedicated to client testimonials and encourage participants to explore this content.
